Totally Zoned Out

Yesterday I ended up only running 2 miles and did a tempo run for the whole distance. It was great :) Usually I run with a little effort but I can still comfortably talk for most all of my runs. This run I was by myself but I know I wouldn't have been able to spit out more than 2 words at a time.

I was breathing heavy the whole distance. My legs felt good though and I didn't get any side aches. I actually really enjoyed it. When I stopped I was in a daze. I was a hot sweaty mess and totally zoned out. It was great.

Then Chris and I took a long walk last night with the boys. We do a 2 mile out and back walk from our house that takes us past a brook, a farm with lots of oreo cookie cows (belted Galloways), and a lot of beautiful houses with big gardens and ocean views.

Today I ran a 3.23 mile loop in Rockland leaving from my work. I am in a daze from that run as we speak. I love that post run feel. I'm rocking my legs back and forth as I sit here and type to keep them loose. I always feel so in tune with my body after a run.

Post Run Pic: Hot and sweaty!
What a beautiful day out here in the mid-coast though!

Post Run Snack: clementines and berries :) mmmm

How many miles are you running?

What do you usually run past that is interesting?

Do you prefer trails, pavement, treadmill...or something else?

  1. Sounds like you had a solid run! Those hard runs are always tough mentally, but they make you faster, so it's worth it. I'm waffling about whether I'm going to keep today a total rest day or go out for a really easy mile or two. Enjoy your runner's high from today's run!

  3. Wow you did a lot of running! :) Awesome! You go girl!

I prefer running on trails. They're softer and more forgiving on your knees. :)
I treat myself once a week running on trails. :) Love the scenery I get from it too. :)

    1. I love trails too! When I lived in Bangor I ran trails all the time. Around here they aren't as easily accessible. Plus we are still pretty soggy this spring...

  4. Nice post and nice run. If you get side aches, before your runs stretch on the sides. Cross your legs and move your upper body the direction opposite to the leg which is crossing over.

    1. Occasionally during runs if I'm really pushing it or if I had too much water before hand. Sometimes I'll just dig my fingers into that area like doing a trigger point release and it helps :) That's a good tip though!

  5. Sounds like you've got some great runs going on, I'm kinda jealous! I ran 5 miles yesterday which was HUGE for me but it was tough going. Breathing is so not fun. :p

  6. Nice work! Great run!! I have to admit, i love the treadmill, but boston has a really pretty running route along the charles river called the esplanade, that is a really fun run when the weather is nice.

    1. Nice. I wish we had more running routes and trails that were easily accessible. Trails and the scenery around them are always more enjoyable than the road.
