Cleaning House & Miles w/ the Bestie

This weekend turned out to be a whole lot chillier than I thought it was going to be.... and the wind was crazy. I don't know the exact mph for some of the gusts that tried to knock S and I over, but they had to be near 50 mph with pretty steady winds around 30 mph.

S & I on Saturday:

S and I went out for an 8 miler in Camden Saturday afternoon, and then a 3 miler recovery run Sunday afternoon in Rockland. She did not warn me of the hills we were going to run, and in her words "well, I can't say we didn't work some hill training in to prepare us for our races!"  She wasn't kidding. There was one particular hill that the grade must have been 20% or more, but it was over with pretty quickly. However, the last mile was a long gradual uphill. My hip flexors were burning by the end of the run.

This was our Saturday run pretty much:
Ouch.

The other part of my weekend was very similar to last weekend. Every weekend we have our normal chores we do:

  • Dump run
  • Sweep and wash kitchen floor
  • Vacuum all carpeting
  • Do a gazillion loads of laundry, fold & put away
  • Grocery shop
  • Clean one of the bathrooms - rotate each weekend
In addition since we are now in spring, I try to tackle one room each weekend to weed out things we haven't used in the past year as well as organize. This weekend I spent time in the guest room which has become a play-room/storage area. Needless to say this room will need a few more weekends dedicated to it.

Do you incorporate hills into your runs?

Does cleaning house lighten your spirit?
- It does mine! I feel so good after purging the house of unused items!

  1. Hey! I cleaned a little this weekend too! Should start doing it more often. We tend to compile a lot of junk. Did 10 miles. Check out my blog at lifeofso.blogspot.com

  2. I love how you have a regular list of chores. It inspires me to want to be better about cleaning. But it sounds like you don't get to relax much on weekends.

    1. It doesn't end up taking too much time, but we are definitely busy throughout the whole weekend. Once dinner time is over though, my butt is on the sofa!
